Connecting our COMMUNITY through SPORT&LEISURE

Let's Build Something Together

Headcorn Community Sports & Leisure is an emerging charitable organisation led by a group of local residents who are passionate about improving access to sport, physical activity, and community opportunities in Headcorn and the surrounding area.

Right now, we are at an exciting early stage — listening to local voices, connecting with groups, and building ideas. Whether you are already involved in sport or simply passionate about your community, there is a place for you in shaping what comes next.

We are working to support local clubs, groups and organisations, while creating welcoming opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active, connect, and get involved in community life through sport, volunteering, and events.

Our Mission

To create inclusive opportunities for sport, physical activity, and community connection, helping people of all ages and abilities in and around Headcorn live healthier, more active lives.

What We Are Doing Now

We are currently focused on building strong foundations by:

  • Listening to local people and understanding what is needed
  • Connecting with sports clubs, community groups, and organisations
  • Exploring opportunities to support and grow existing activities
  • Developing ideas for new activities, events, and initiatives
  • Identifying funding opportunities to make these ideas happen

Looking Ahead

As we grow, we have ambitions to develop improved spaces and opportunities for sport, leisure, and community use in Headcorn.

In many areas across Kent, community leisure facilities have become important hubs — supporting not just physical activity, but social connection, wellbeing, and local pride.

Our long-term vision is to explore how similar opportunities could be created here in a way that:

  • Supports local clubs and helps them thrive
  • Creates inclusive, welcoming spaces for everyone
  • Encourages active, healthy lifestyles
  • Brings the community together through shared experiences

But this is something we want to shape with the community — which is why your voice matters now more than ever.

Why It Matters

Headcorn is growing, and with that growth comes an increasing need for accessible, inclusive spaces where people can be active, connect, and feel part of the community.

Many local groups and residents already face challenges such as:

  • Limited access to suitable facilities
  • Sharing space between multiple clubs and activities
  • Long travel distances to take part in sport or exercise
  • A lack of flexible, multi-use community spaces

But this isn't just about future plans — it's about what is needed now.

There is a real opportunity to better support the activities, clubs, and people already at the heart of the community by:

  • Helping existing groups grow and reach more people
  • Creating new opportunities for those who may not currently feel able to take part
  • Bringing people together through events, activities, and shared experiences
  • Supporting physical and mental wellbeing through accessible, local initiatives

By taking action now — even in small ways — we can begin to make a difference immediately, while building towards longer-term ambitions.

By developing better opportunities for sport and recreation within the community, Headcorn Community Sports & Leisure aims to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen community connections, support grassroots sport, and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take part in an active lifestyle close to home.

Support Us

To turn ideas into reality, we need community support and funding. We are actively looking for:

  • Funding partners and sponsors
  • Local businesses who can support or collaborate
  • Community fundraisers and fundraising ideas
  • Donations of time, resources, or expertise

If you can help in any way — big or small — we would love to hear from you.

Get Involved

We are especially keen to hear from:

  • Local residents of all ages
  • Sports clubs and activity groups
  • Volunteers and community champions
  • Schools, organisations, and local partners
  • Anyone with ideas, skills, or enthusiasm

Whether you want to help shape ideas, support activities, or simply stay informed — there are plenty of ways to get involved.

TOGETHER, WE CAN CREATE A HEALTHIER, MORE CONNECTED HEADCORN
